If there is one thing the Midwest doesn't have going for it, that would definitely be winter. I wish I could say I don't know what -15 degrees feels like. Oh but I do. I soooo do. That's a frozen Lake Monona somewhere out there.
it's funny- i talk on the phone to tons of people around the country all day at work. and a lot of them ask "and where are you at?" after i go through their address info. when i reply "wisconsin", i get these responses packed with cringe and dismay. it's almost funny, because to me, wisconsin is perfect (well, you know what i mean) and i would never live on the east coast or down south (where they all seem to reside).
i guess wisconsin just isn't a state that you can explain to people who aren't "in the know".
Living in Illinois, Kansas and Wisconsin has given me the chance to find out what I like about here.
Heart Land highlights some great things in the Midwest. Interesting places to shop, eat and travel. Artists. Nature. All things Midwestern and wonderful.
