Vacancy

Abandoned houses always draw me in. They can be so eerie and beautiful standing there haunting the neighborhood. Maybe a bit depressing, but that is all part of the abandoned house's charm.

Historic preservation is in my bones a little. I see an abandoned house and I imagine what it has lived through. All of the history it's seen. A totally impartial participant. It stood there and provided warmth and shelter but people neglected to return the favor. I want to rescue these houses, like they are an aging grandparent that just needs a little bit of attention. Someone to listen to all of their stories.

The houses pictured above are part of a group featured on The Motor(less) City. They are located around Detroit Michigan.
